Spartak Moscow director confirms Red Star interest in Marquinhos

Sergej Nekrasov, the general director of Spartak Moscow, has confirmed that Red Star Belgrade showed significant interest in Brazilian footballer Marquinhos during Dejan Stanković’s tenure as the Belgrade club's manager.

Marquinhos originally joined Spartak Moscow following Stanković from Ferencváros. Nekrasov noted that the player reached a new level of performance in Moscow, which drew interest from multiple clubs beyond just Red Star Belgrade. However, despite the strong interest from Serbia, Nekrasov stated he had not heard that Marquinhos was seriously considering a transfer to the Serbian side.

Nekrasov also commented on his brief professional relationship with Stanković, which lasted only two months, noting that it is difficult to fully assess all stages of Stanković’s time with the Moscow club. He expressed optimism regarding the club's future under the leadership of the new coach, Karsed.
