Spartak Moscow supporters halt Albanian striker Mirlind Daku's €11 million transfer

Spartak Moscow was on the verge of completing a €11 million deal to sign Albanian forward Mirlind Daku from Rubin Kazan. The club’s management reportedly agreed to a 3+1 contract despite strong opposition from a faction of its supporters.

Fans belonging to the "Ludi Sever" group staged protests, arguing that Daku’s past behaviour – notably his vulgar insults toward Serbs and Macedonians after the Albania‑Croatia Euro 2024 match – would sow division within the team. During that incident Daku used a megaphone to curse the Serbian and Macedonian crowds, receiving only a two‑match UEFA suspension.

Born in Serbia and raised in Gnjilane, Kosovo, Daku’s controversial reputation has drawn criticism from Serbian media and fan groups. While the Spartak board faced pressure, reports indicate the transfer is still moving forward.
