Spartan Invitational cross country meet features Toledo and Ohio State

The Spartan Invitational cross country meet took place at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. The Toledo women's cross country team secured a second-place finish with 42 points, trailing host Michigan State by only two points. Freshman Purity Chepkirui led the Toledo women with a fifth-place finish in the 6k race.

Ohio State's men's and women's teams also participated in the event. Following a successful season opener at the Mike Baumer Cross Country Classic, where the Buckeyes claimed team titles, senior Will McGraw was named the Big Ten Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week. The Spartan Invitational serves as a precursor to the 2026 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships, which will be held at the same course.
