SPC Vinyl Flooring Surpasses Laminate in European Sales Growth

Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) flooring consists of rigid vinyl planks with a mineral‑plastic core, providing higher water resistance and a click‑lock system that eliminates the need for glue. The product is marketed for kitchens, bathrooms and other high‑traffic areas where spills and moisture are common.

European sales of SPC flooring increased from 51.7 million m² in 2022 to 53.7 million m² in 2023, according to the European flooring association MMFA, even as overall polymer flooring sales declined. Laminate flooring remains popular because of its lower price and wide range of decorative designs, but it is more susceptible to water damage.
