SPD backs citizen foundation to boost social cohesion in Rodenbach

The Social Democratic Party (SPD) in the German municipality of Rodenbach is proposing the creation of a citizen foundation to strengthen social togetherness, volunteer work and cultural and charitable projects. Deputy faction chair Martina Eichhöfer said, “With our application in June to examine the establishment of a citizen foundation for Rodenbach we aim to promote social cohesion, participation and the common good within the community.”

Eichhöfer cited neighboring foundations as examples: the foundation in Maintal publicly lists funded projects, while Nidderau’s foundation recently highlighted its summer lottery, which raised €150,000 for youth‑focused clubs, and a MINT centre funded with over €40,000. She argued that such foundations are valuable, especially as municipal budgets tighten, and expressed hope that a Rodenbach foundation will further demonstrate the town’s strong sense of community.
