SPdH Workers' Commission warns of social risk amid collective dismissals
The Workers' Commission (CT) of SPdH, formerly known as Groundforce, has called for an end to collective dismissals at the company, warning that continued job cuts could jeopardize social peace.
This marks the third process of worker departures in two years. The CT met with Menzies, the company's current controller, and representatives from the Directorate-General for Employment and Labor Relations (DGERT) to discuss the company's intention to dismiss nine workers. The commission expressed strong disagreement with how the process was communicated and criticized previous mutual agreement termination processes (RMA) in 2024 and 2025, labeling them poorly structured and ineffective at reducing average worker costs.
The commission highlighted that the workforce has faced significant instability since 2020, including the pandemic, insolvency, changes in shareholding, and the loss of licenses. Supported by various unions including STAMA, Sitava, and SIA, the CT is seeking a swift conclusion to the process that respects and safeguards working conditions.
