Speaker Alban Bagbin Calls for Parliament‑Civil Society Partnership and Commends Ghana’s Chief Imam

Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, urged the creation of a permanent partnership between Parliament, academia and civil‑society organisations. Speaking at an information‑sharing session on economic governance and public financial management, he said continuous dialogue and research would make legislative and oversight work more evidence‑based, improve public accountability and guard the public purse.

During a courtesy visit to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu, Bagbin praised the Imam’s humanitarian projects, job‑creating offices and personal financial assistance to the community. He announced a donation to the Imam’s education trust fund, proposed naming it the “Sunset Fund”, reaffirmed parliamentary support for Muslim activities, and noted ongoing work on the LGBTQ bill following the Imam’s advice.
