Speaker Mike Johnson attacks Tom Suozzi at Long Island GOP rally

House Speaker Mike Johnson headlined a Republican fundraiser on Long Island to support congressional candidate Mike LiPetri in his bid to unseat incumbent Representative Tom Suozzi in New York’s 3rd Congressional District.

During the event, Johnson criticized Suozzi, labeling him part of a “Marxist crazy left Democrats” movement attempting to take control of the House. Johnson specifically targeted Suozzi’s positions on transgender athletes in women’s sports, the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap, and proposals to ban congressional stock trading.

LiPetri expressed confidence in his campaign, stating that his movement has “momentum” heading into the November 3 election. The event also featured Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, though former Yankees player Mark Teixeira, who was billed for the appearance, did not attend.
