Special Olympics Bosnia and Herzegovina concludes National Inclusive Games in Sarajevo

The National Inclusive Games of Special Olympics Bosnia and Herzegovina concluded in Sarajevo after three days of competition. Held from September 3 to 5, the event hosted over 500 participants, including athletes, coaches, family members, volunteers, and specialists from across Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as delegations from Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, and Montenegro.

The sporting program featured various disciplines such as athletics, boccia, swimming, and table tennis. In addition to competition, the event focused on health, family, and volunteering. Through the ‘Healthy Athletes’ program, participants received preventive and non-invasive health screenings provided by medical professionals and students from the University of Sarajevo Clinical Center and the Faculty of Dentistry.

The games aimed to promote inclusive sport as a serious competitive system and a platform for social connection. The event also highlighted the importance of ensuring continuous sports programming and accessible preventive healthcare for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
