Special Olympics Romania National Games held in Ploiești and Câmpina

The 2026 Special Olympics Romania National Games took place between August 28 and 30 in Ploiești and Câmpina, bringing together over 300 athletes from across the country. The event focused on providing a platform for individuals with special educational needs to develop emotional regulation, executive functions, and social skills through physical activity.

Among the participants, the 'Christian' Day Center team from Târgu Jiu secured first place in the bocce competition. The winning team, consisting of Alina, Filip, Andrei, and Codruț, achieved this result during their first participation in a large-scale competition of this magnitude.

Other participants included eight students from the LACRIMA School Center, highlighting the role of sports in fostering a sense of belonging, acceptance, and community for people with disabilities.
