Special Police Unit Rescues Child Held Hostage in Kamnik, Slovenia

During a night-time operation in the Kamnik area, police responded to a report that a man was holding a child hostage and threatening both the child and his former partner. Police negotiators and members of the Special Police Unit were deployed, securing the perimeter and entering the house after several hours. The suspect was found on the attic with sharp objects and threatened self‑harm and harm to the child. Officers used a taser to subdue him; the child was rescued unharmed. The man sustained serious injuries, was taken to a medical facility, and remains under police custody. Investigators seized three dangerous items from the scene and are pursuing charges related to family and child violence.
