Specialty coffee producers in Minas Gerais receive recognition

At the 1st Inconfidentes Specialty Coffee Showcase held in Cachoeira do Campo, Café de São Bartolomeu, produced by José Maria Soares in the Ouro Preto district, was voted the best by a technical jury. The winning coffee, made from Catiguá variety beans, reached a price of R$ 210 per kilogram during the event's auction. The technical evaluation was conducted by four specialists with international certification.

In the popular vote category, the coffee produced by Manoel Murilo Silva in the Furquim district of Mariana was selected as the most flavorful. His product utilizes Catuaí variety beans. The showcase, organized by the Association of Specialty Coffee Producers of the Inconfidentes (APCEI) with support from the Ouro Preto City Hall, aimed to connect regional producers from Ouro Preto, Mariana, and Itabirito with buyers and professionals in the gastronomy and tourism sectors.

Separately, Oli Cafés announced the launch of a new specialty coffee produced in Santana da Vargem, Minas Gerais. Named ‘Amanhã eu cuido disso aí’, the product uses naturally fermented Red Catuaí beans. The brand uses informal, everyday expressions for its product names to make technical coffee information more accessible to consumers.
