Speed camera in Rocquemont misaligned to monitor field

An autonomous speed camera installed on the D928 road in Rocquemont, Seine-Maritime, was recently found to be misaligned, causing it to monitor a nearby field instead of passing vehicles.

In September 2026, motorists noticed that the device, which had been in place since May 2025 to monitor an 80 km/h zone, was pointed away from the roadway. Unlike typical acts of vandalism, the device showed no signs of physical damage, paint, or coverings; it had simply been rotated by a few degrees.

The incident lasted for several days before the radar was returned to its correct position and its normal functionality was restored by September 24, 2026. The perpetrator of the realignment has not been identified.
