Speed cameras in Brabant issue over 16,000 fines

Quarterly data from the Centraal Justitieel Incassobureau (CJIB) reveals that over 17,000 road users received fines in the Netherlands during the months of May, June, July, and August.

Across seven speed cameras in the municipalities of Roosendaal, Bergen op Zoom, and Halderberge, a total of 16,036 vehicles were caught. This included 15,125 speeding violations and 911 instances of running red lights. A mobile speed camera on the Markiezaatsweg in Bergen op Zoom was particularly active, issuing 8,174 fines. In Roosendaal, a camera on the Burgemeester Schneiderlaan issued 3,670 fines, while a camera on the N640 between Oudenbosch and Hoeven recorded 1,171 violations.

Additionally, focus flashers—specialized cameras designed to detect mobile phone use while driving—were deployed in three locations. In Bergen op Zoom, these devices caught 772 and 315 drivers on the Rooseveltlaan and Antwerpsestraatweg, respectively. In Roosendaal, a focus flasher on the N262 detected 548 violators.
