Speediance smart band features core body temperature monitoring
The Speediance smart band features a sensor designed to estimate core body temperature during exercise by measuring skin temperature and heat flux. Unlike the Core 2 thermal sensor, which requires pairing with a chest strap heart rate monitor to function, the Speediance device provides temperature estimates directly from the wrist without additional equipment.
The Speediance app tracks “heat load” alongside heart rate and mileage, notifying users when they are insufficiently warmed up or when performance may be declining due to heat. Testing involved comparing the Speediance device against the Core 2 to evaluate how accurately it measures heat strain during workouts.
