Speedo introduces smart iQ sensor goggles for swimming analysis
Speedo has introduced Speedo iQ, a miniature sensor module designed to be integrated into its Vanquisher 3.0 swimming goggles. Unlike traditional smartwatches that estimate movement from the wrist, this sensor is positioned closer to the head, allowing for more precise tracking of head position, breathing angles, and timing.
The device supports all four major competitive swimming strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. It records metrics such as distance, pace, stroke count, breathing patterns, and turn timing. Data is synchronized via Bluetooth to a mobile application after training, which provides detailed performance analysis and recommended exercises without requiring a subscription.
Notably, the Speedo iQ has received approval from World Aquatics, making it suitable for use during competitive races. The sensor is a removable triangular module, allowing users to transfer the electronics between different compatible pairs of goggles.
