Speedway: Dawid Oscenda wins opening 500R cup; Fredrik Lindgren misses Prague Grand Prix

The inaugural round of the 500R Individual Cup of the Ekstraliga was held on 18 May in Zielona Góra, Poland. Twenty riders competed over 20 heats plus a final, and Dawid Oscenda of Unia Leszno topped the leaderboard with 13 points, securing first place. Bartosz Byszewski (KS Toruń) finished second with 12 points and Julian Wronecki (Falubaz Zielona Góra) took third. The next round is scheduled for 25 May in Częstochowa.

A Grand Prix round in Prague is set for Saturday, marking the first time in the event’s 28‑year history that no Swedish rider will start. Fredrik Lindgren, Sweden’s sole representative in the GP series and a four‑medal holder, suffered a broken left tibia, a tibio‑fibular ligament injury and ankle‑ligament damage in a PGE Ekstraliga match in Leszno. His absence highlights the rarity of a national rider missing a GP round – previously only in 1996 (Lonigo) and 2000 (Coventry).
