Zielona Góra hosts opening round of Speedway Euro Championship

The inaugural round of the Speedway Euro Championship (SEC) is scheduled for 18 July at the W69 track in Zielona Góra, Poland. The event marks the city's first major international speedway meeting since the 2008 Grand Prix Challenge. A wild‑card entry was awarded to local rider Damian Ratajczak, while Oskar Hurysz and Oskar Paluch will serve as reserves.

The 16‑rider field includes six Grand Prix regulars: Michael Jepsen Jensen, Leon Madsen, Kai Huckenbeck, Kacper Woryna, Maciej Janowski and Patryk Dudek. Other participants are Rasmus Jensen (Denmark), Adam Ellis (Great Britain), Piotr Pawlicki (Poland), Andrzej Lebiediew (Latvia), Mikkel Michelsen (Denmark), Przemysław Pawlicki (Poland), Mathias Pollestad (Norway), Nazar Parnicki (Ukraine), Jan Kvěch (Czech Republic) and others. The competition offers a coveted promotion slot for the 2027 Speedway Grand Prix. Local officials, including Mayor Marcin Pabierowski, highlighted the event as a significant boost for the city’s sport and tourism profile.
