Speedway leagues face financial challenges and regulatory changes

The Krajowa Liga Żużlowa is facing significant financial difficulties, with clubs such as Start Gniezno and Speedway Kraków struggling to secure their participation for the 2027 season. Reports indicate that mismanagement and high expenditures have led to mounting debts, particularly in Kraków. To address potential instability, league authorities are considering a format that could accommodate as few as five teams, potentially utilizing a double regular season structure similar to models used in the United Kingdom.

In contrast, the Danish SpeedwayLigaen has approved a series of regulatory reforms for the 2027 season aimed at long-term development. These changes include mandatory requirements for two riders under the age of 21 and a revised heat structure where matches will consist of 15 races. The new rules also introduce a team average limit between 6.000 and 7.700 points and provide greater flexibility for reserve riders to replace teammates in the event of crashes.
