Speinshart Abbey hosts Celestial Rhythms percussion concert

The Christian Benning Percussion Group performed an open-air concert titled ‘Celestial Rhythms’ at the Speinshart Abbey courtyard. The event was part of the Festival Junger Künstler Bayreuth.

Six artists utilized 100 different instruments, including marimbas, vibraphones, xylophones, timpani, toms, bass drums, congas, and bongos, to create a program dedicated to the universe. The performance was timed to coincide with natural celestial events, including a partial solar eclipse and the Perseid meteor shower. To avoid interfering with the visibility of the stars and meteors, the ensemble intentionally used minimal artificial lighting during the performance.
