Spekter urges political action on healthcare staffing goals
During a parliamentary hearing regarding the Health Personnel Plan 2040, Spekter has called for political clarification to prevent the undermining of goals aimed at reducing part-time employment in the healthcare sector.
Anne Turid Wikdahl, development director at Spekter, emphasized that achieving more full-time positions requires addressing the issue of overtime pay for part-time employees. She noted that a recent report from a joint working group failed to reach a consensus on this matter.
According to a survey conducted by Opinion for Spekter, changes to overtime regulations could lead 26 percent of current full-time workers—approximately 540,000 people—to consider moving to part-time roles. Wikdahl argued that such a shift would contradict political ambitions to foster a full-time work culture and urged the Storting to ensure Norwegian overtime provisions are maintained.
