Speleology and digital mapping courses announced for 2026

Various specialized training programs for speleology and torrentismo (river trekking) have been announced for late 2026.

The Gruppo Speleologico San Giusto APS and the Società Speleologica Italiana are organizing the 40th Speleology Course. This program includes theoretical lessons on cave evolution, topography, and flora/fauna, alongside practical excursions in the Carso and Friuli regions. The course covers rope progression techniques and equipment use.

Technical training in digital mapping is also being offered. A national GIS advanced course will be held in Treviso, combining online sessions with in-person activities. This program focuses on QGIS, QField, 3D modeling, drones, and photogrammetry for cave and river documentation. Additionally, the Scuola Nazionale di Torrentismo of the Club Alpino Italiano is hosting an online course dedicated to digital cartography, GPS usage, and web-based navigation tools for outdoor activities.
