Spencer Pratt sues Los Angeles after mayoral defeat, targets Mayor Bass

Reality‑TV star Spencer Pratt, who finished third in the Los Angeles mayoral primary, has filed a lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and several state agencies over the Palisades fire that destroyed homes in Malibu. Pratt announced the legal action alongside Kenneth Bass, the brother of incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, claiming the fire resulted from negligence and cost‑saving decisions by utility operators.

In a video posted after conceding the race, Pratt denounced Mayor Bass and Councilmember Nithya Raman, calling the political establishment a "corrupt machine" and warning of further attacks, including alleged recordings that could force resignations. He framed his post‑election activities as a new phase of his campaign to "save Los Angeles," describing the situation as "war" and threatening possible FBI investigations.

The lawsuits name 18 public and private defendants and seek damages for personal injuries, emotional distress and property loss claimed by the plaintiffs.
