Spencer Pratt's LA mayoral run sparks Jimmy Kimmel jab as primary narrows
In the Los Angeles mayoral primary, incumbent Mayor Karen Bass is ahead with about 35% of the vote, while reality‑TV figure Spencer Pratt holds a close second at roughly 30%. The race also includes Councilmember Nithya Raman in third place with 22.8% of the vote. With about 60% of ballots counted, the contest appears set to advance Bass and Pratt to a November runoff.
Late‑night host Jimmy Kimmel addressed the surprising results on his show, calling Pratt’s success “insane” and joking that Democrats would be embarrassed by secret support for the candidate. Kimmel also referenced Pratt’s recent campaign video and a past sketch in which Kimmel appeared in blackface, prompting Pratt to post a screenshot of that sketch in retaliation.
The primary certification is scheduled for June 26, after which the two candidates will compete in the final election.
