Spencer Stastney debuts for Pittsburgh Penguins

Defenseman Spencer Stastney made his debut for the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday in a 3-2 shootout victory over the Dallas Stars. Stastney, 26, was recently acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in a trade that sent forward Filip Hallander to Edmonton.

During his debut, Stastney played 12:58 of ice time on 15 shifts as part of the third defensive pairing. Penguins assistant general manager Jason Spezza noted that the trade was driven by mutual interest in the respective players. Coach Dan Muse praised Stastney’s skating, anticipation, and ability to integrate quickly into the lineup.
