Spermmaxxing biohacking trend targets male fertility

A new biohacking trend known as ‘Spermmaxxing’ has emerged, involving various methods intended to improve male sperm quality. These methods range from lifestyle changes and supplements like zinc and selenium to more unconventional practices such as using red light therapy, applying ice to the testicles, or consuming raw garlic.

Urologist Dr. Daniel Kaminski notes that while sperm quality is not unchangeable and can be influenced by lifestyle, environmental factors, and medication, many of the specific optimization strategies promoted in this trend lack reliable clinical data. He warns that the trend becomes problematic when plausible biological connections are used to make unverified promises regarding rapid improvements in fertility.
