Speyer Cathedral appoints Jan Skowron as musical assistant

The Speyer Cathedral Chapter has announced that Jan Skowron will join the Dommusik Speyer as a new musical assistant, effective October 1, 2026. Skowron, a trained church musician, organist, and choir director, will succeed Frederic Beaupoil, who is departing after three years to serve as a provost cantor in Borken.

In his new role, Skowron will support Cathedral Music Director Markus Melchiori, Cathedral Cantor Joachim Weller, and Cathedral Organist Bastian Fuchs. His responsibilities will focus on choir and ensemble work. Skowron’s background includes studies at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts and the Heidelberg University of Church Music.
