Speyer to host ‘Art Against Abuse’ exhibition
The city of Speyer will host the traveling exhibition ‘Kunst gegen Missbrauch’ (Art Against Abuse) from September 7 to October 24, 2026. Initiated by Nezilla and scientifically accompanied by Professor Dr. Julia Wege, the exhibition aims to bring visibility to the issue of sexualized violence against children and adolescents.
The exhibition utilizes art to encourage dialogue and reflection rather than seeking to shock. It features photography by Felicitas Yang and Armando Milano, which depicts everyday locations where children move, prompting questions about safety in familiar environments. Additionally, works by artist Julius Wolf, a survivor of childhood sexual violence, provide personal perspectives on the subject.
A comprehensive framework program will accompany the exhibition, covering topics such as prevention, support services, processing trauma, and institutional protection concepts. The event is organized by the Speyer Equality Office in cooperation with the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate, the Diocese of Speyer, and the Speyer Women's Emergency Hotline.
