Spezia close to signing midfielder Carmelo Limonelli

Italian Serie B side Spezia is nearing the completion of a two‑year contract for versatile attacking midfielder Carmelo Limonelli. The Sicilian player, who previously starred for Siracusa with 8 goals and 4 assists in 97 appearances and also featured for Acireale and Giarre, is expected to reunite with coach Marco Turati, who coached him for two seasons at Siracusa.

Turati praised Limonelli’s tactical flexibility, noting his ability to operate as a trequartista, wide forward or deeper midfielder. The deal is reported to be very advanced, with both parties finalising remaining details, and Spezia is set to out‑bid rival club Foggia for his signature. No official announcement has been made yet.
