Sphere Abacus acquires digital rights firm Rocket Rights
Sphere Abacus, a UK-based distributor owned by Bell Media, has acquired 100% of Matthew Frank’s digital rights firm, Rocket Rights/Rights Booster. The acquired entity will be rebranded as Rocket Booster.
Rocket Booster will specialize in multiplatform digital and social media distribution, focusing on FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) and VoD (Video on Demand) monetization for the combined catalogues. Sphere Abacus will continue to manage traditional TV and licensing for both companies.
Following the acquisition, Cat Davie has been appointed Managing Director of Rocket Booster, while founder Matthew Frank will serve as Executive Director. Both will report to Sphere Abacus Managing Director Jonathan Ford.
