Sphere Entertainment to add 4D effects to Wizard of Oz show

Sphere Entertainment is set to introduce expanded 4D special effects to its 'The Wizard of Oz' presentation in Las Vegas starting September 25. The enhancements aim to build on the commercial success of the 75-minute experience.

New features will include animatronic winged monkeys, pyrotechnic fireworks, 'Glinda Glitter', and themed scents, such as scented apples. Sphere Entertainment head James Dolan indicated that the company intends to maximize the longevity and profitability of such shows, suggesting 'The Wizard of Oz' could potentially run for many years in various locations.

The updated experience follows a successful first year for the production. While these specific 4D upgrades are currently exclusive to 'The Wizard of Oz', the venue is also preparing for 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' to receive a similar treatment in 2027.
