Spice launches youth support initiatives in Chiba City

The non-profit organization Spice, founded by Chiba University graduate students, is launching several initiatives to support youth in Chiba City, Japan.

On September 5, 2026, the Chiba Youth Center PRISM will host a disaster preparedness workshop titled “Everyone’s Disaster Prevention Strategy Meeting.” The event aims to help young people consider personal safety and community resilience in light of recent natural disasters, such as the Kumamoto Earthquake and Chiba heavy rains. Participants will inspect the PRISM facility for potential hazards and discuss emergency supplies and home preparedness.

Additionally, as part of a Chiba City pilot project to create community spaces for youth, Spice will operate “Mihamakko Base” in Mihama Ward during October 2026. This temporary space will be located at Kanda University of International Studies and the Takasu Community Center. The program includes activities such as campus tours and food-related events, designed to provide a safe environment for middle school, high school, and university-aged individuals to socialize, study, or seek career information.
