SpiceJet pilots refuse to fly over unpaid salaries
Approximately 40 pilots operating SpiceJet’s Q400 aircraft have refused to fly until their outstanding salaries are paid, according to industry sources. The move comes amid ongoing financial and operational difficulties facing the airline.
The Airline Pilots Association of India (ALPA India) has expressed support for the pilots, stating it will provide moral, professional, and logistical assistance to help reach a resolution. The organization noted that the pilots are taking this stand to protect their professional dignity and maintain high aviation safety standards amidst significant stress and uncertainty caused by the airline's financial instability.
SpiceJet has not yet issued an official comment regarding the situation. Current data from Planespotters.net indicates the airline has 10 aircraft in operation, including two Q400s, while 37 aircraft remain grounded. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is reportedly monitoring the airline's activities closely.
