Spicy Pizza World Championship celebrates 25th anniversary in Italy

The 25th Spicy Pizza World Championship concluded on October 14 in Grisolia, Calabria, organized by the Movimento Pizzaioli Italiani. The anniversary edition featured professionals from 16 countries participating in 380 competitions held at the Cormorano Resort & Spa.

Spanish representatives achieved significant success during the event. Marco Bianchi, from Valencia’s Il Cortile, was crowned world champion in two categories, and the Spanish selection was recognized as the best foreign team of pizza makers. Additionally, Rocío Marquina Martínez of Pizzería Marquinetti received the Special International Spirit Award for her efforts in promoting spicy pizza culture in Spain and fostering ties between Spanish and Italian professionals.

In the Classic Pizza category, Andrea Ciccocioppo from Abruzzo took first place, followed by Salvo Camonita from Sicily and Alberto Carianni. The event also included competitions for hospitality students to encourage the next generation of professionals and was attended by various regional and local Italian officials.
