Spider-Man 4 hits 3 million viewers in South Korea, boosting summer box office

Marvel’s "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" opened in South Korea on July 31 and reached more than 3 million admissions within five days, the fastest pace for any domestic release this year. The film logged 2.25 million viewers over the opening weekend (July 31‑August 2) and a cumulative 3.38 million admissions, putting it on track to surpass 4 million and possibly 5 million viewers. In North America the movie earned about $5.1 billion in its opening weekend, the second‑largest debut after "Avengers: Endgame".

At the same time, director Na Hong‑jin’s Korean sci‑fi action comedy "Hope" also crossed the 4 million‑viewer mark, joining a small group of local releases to achieve that milestone this year. Both titles are driving a lively summer cinema market in South Korea.
