Spider-Man: Brand New Day dominates box office as Marvel announces Avengers re-release

Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its dominant box office run, surpassing $900 million in the US after just 36 days. The film currently holds the second-highest domestic gross in history, trailing only Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In the UK and Ireland, the film has maintained its top position for six consecutive weeks, reaching a cumulative gross of $130.1 million.

Universal’s The Odyssey remains a strong competitor, holding second place in both US and UK markets. In the UK, it has reached a total of $111.9 million, while in the US, it has earned $13 million during its eighth week.

In related Marvel news, Marvel Studios announced the theatrical re-release of Avengers: Endgame, titled ‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’, starting September 25. The re-release will feature an extended runtime of approximately 185 minutes and will include an exclusive first look at the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Select screenings in IMAX and the new Infinity Vision format will offer access to this footage.

Additionally, director Destin Daniel Cretton discussed the creative process behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day, noting that while Marvel producer Kevin Feige ensures connectivity within the cinematic universe, directors are encouraged to propose character inclusions, such as the Hulk, rather than following strict mandates.
