Spider-Man writer reveals scrapped film concepts
Writer Chris McKenna has revealed scrapped concept ideas for the Spider-Man franchise. During the development of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, McKenna and co-writer Erik Sommers explored various storylines that were ultimately not pursued.
One discarded concept involved Kraven the Hunter turning New York City into a series of booby traps, creating a “Home Alone” style scenario where the character stalks Peter Parker. Another idea featured a courtroom comedy where Peter Parker, having discovered his superhero identity was stolen, would hire Matt Murdock to take the imposter to court. McKenna noted that the complexity of coordinating villains was influenced by the existing arrangement between Sony and Marvel Studios regarding Spider-Man and his supporting characters.
Additionally, discussions regarding the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day highlight the diverse financial backgrounds of the ensemble, which includes television veterans and established blockbuster performers.
