Spider plants are ideal for indoor window gardening

The spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum), a plant native to South Africa, is noted for its ease of care and suitability for indoor window placement. Its long, slender, green and white striped leaves grow in clumps and often produce small plantlets on long stems, making it an aesthetically pleasing choice for small spaces like apartments or balconies.

According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), spider plants can thrive in various lighting conditions ranging from low to bright light, though they perform best in bright, indirect sunlight. Placing them near windows with filtered light or curtains is ideal, as intense, direct summer sun can burn the leaves. The University of Wisconsin also notes that the plant develops well in medium to bright light conditions.
