Spilinga selected to host Longevity Day Italia 2026

The town of Spilinga in the Vibonese region of Calabria has been selected to host the twelfth edition of Longevity Day Italia in 2026. The choice of location is based on the town's status as a natural laboratory for longevity, supported by the presence of three centenarian residents and a high quality of life.

The event is scheduled to take place around September 30 and October 1, 2026. The program includes the reception of delegations, territorial visits, and an awards ceremony featuring experts from the medical, academic, and institutional sectors. The initiative aims to promote active aging by engaging directly with communities where long life is a daily reality.

In preparation for the event, representatives from Anziani Italia, the Volare association, and the municipality of Spilinga met with the Rector of the University of Calabria, Gianluigi Greco. The meeting focused on longevity as a multidisciplinary field of study involving prevention and social innovation. During the visit, an official award was presented to the University to recognize its commitment to regional well-being and academic dialogue.
