Spinning fishing World Championship begins in Hungary

The 17th Spinning Fishing World Championship has commenced on the Tisza River and its reservoir in Hungary. The three-day competition features national teams competing for medals, with the Estonian team currently holding 13th place out of 15 teams after the first day.

On the opening day, Estonian teams Robert Samarüütel and Juhko Voomets finished 20th, while Alexander Andrusenko and Siim Enders finished 23rd, totaling 43 points. The host nation, Hungary, secured the top two positions. The competition scoring is based on the length of the fish caught, with larger species like pike offering more points than Volga perch or ide.

Estonian officials noted that while the region is experiencing a significant drought with low water levels, fish density in the rivers has increased. The target species for the championship include perch, crucian carp, pike, ide, and Volga perch.
