Spiritbox singer Courtney LaPlante defends ejecting violent fan in Phoenix
During Spiritbox’s July 15 opening set for Evanescence in Phoenix, vocalist Courtney LaPlante ordered security to remove an “old drunk man” who was repeatedly punching concert‑goers. LaPlante explained on social media that the individual’s behavior went beyond typical moshing and posed a safety risk, stating, “This isn’t a damn gold‑medal karate match. This is a rock and roll show.”
After footage of the incident spread online, some commentators claimed she had ejected the fan for moshing. LaPlante responded that the man was “punching people in the head” and that security had been notified three times before she intervened. She emphasized that the action was taken to protect the audience and that she was “a guest in their house,” referring to opening for Evanescence.
