Spišská Stará Ves school attack trial continues in Pezinok

The trial of Samuel S., accused of a premeditated attack at a high school in Spišská Stará Ves in January 2025, continued at the Specialized Criminal Court in Pezinok. During the proceedings, the court scheduled the playback of phone calls made by the defendant while in custody, a move previously requested by the prosecutor.

The indictment charges Samuel S. with premeditated murder, including stages of preparation and attempted murder. According to prosecutors, the defendant acted out of a belief that school administration was attempting to exclude him following the implementation of an individual study plan necessitated by his previous death threats against female classmates.

On the day of the attack, the defendant used a hunting knife to kill the deputy director, Mária Semančíková, and an 18-year-old student, Alena Čarnogurská. He also attacked another student, Barbora M., who survived with moderate injuries. The defendant, who denies guilt, remains in custody. Further hearings are scheduled for September 29 and 30.
