Spital Herisau appoints Jörg Scheler as emergency medical director

Jörg Scheler has been appointed as the new medical director of the emergency department at Spital Herisau. The appointment is part of an effort by the Spitalverbund Appenzell Ausserrhoden (SVAR) to strengthen medical expertise and ensure local care for patients with acute health issues.

Scheler is a specialist in General Internal Medicine with extensive experience in clinical emergency medicine. He previously served as a senior physician and deputy head of the emergency center at HOCH Health Ostschweiz at the St. Gallen Cantonal Hospital. His background includes training in vascular, visceral, and transplant surgery, as well as traumatology, anesthesiology, and internal medicine.
