Split and UNICEF sign agreement to support vulnerable children

Split Mayor Tomislav Šuta and Luisa Bruman, head of the UNICEF Office in Croatia, have signed a new cooperation agreement involving the City of Split, UNICEF, and municipal utility companies. The agreement aims to strengthen support for children and families, with a specific focus on including the most vulnerable youth and ensuring equal opportunities for development and community participation.

The partnership includes support for UNICEF programs such as ‘Schools for Africa’ and ‘Guardians of Childhood,’ alongside the promotion of UNICEF’s humanitarian actions. Discussions also touched upon the upcoming 80th anniversary of UNICEF and how the city might participate in related activities.

UNICEF representatives praised the city’s readiness to cooperate and its ongoing efforts in social policy. Mayor Šuta emphasized that children, youth, and families remain priorities for local policy, stating, ‘Our responsibility is to create a city in which every child has equal opportunities for safe growing up, development, education, and participation in the community.’
