Split City Council session ends in chaos and misconduct allegations

A session of the Split City Council regarding the regulation of nightclubs in the old city center ended in chaos, resulting in the removal of councilor Bojan Ivošević from the meeting. Following a dispute over procedural rules, Council President Igor Stanišić issued warnings to Ivošević and subsequently ordered his removal. This led to a walkout by opposition members, causing the session to be adjourned due to a lack of quorum.

Marijana Puljak, president of the Centar party, criticized the incident, describing it as a ‘cheap political circus’ intended to serve as a ‘smoke screen’ to divert public attention from more pressing issues. Puljak accused Mayor Tomislav Šuta and city authorities of financial irregularities, alleging that informal associates influence city contracts and that public funds are being diverted through inflated invoices to private entities. She called for greater transparency in city spending and better regulation of nightlife in the historic center.
