Split City Council to hold sessions on waste management and procurement concerns

The Split City Council is scheduled to hold two thematic sessions addressing concerns over municipal operations and procurement. One session focuses on the business practices of the municipal company Čistoća during the previous administration, specifically regarding suspicions of irregularities in public procurement.

Mayor Tomislav Šuta commented on the proceedings, noting that he has canceled a public procurement for a biostabilizer due to an ongoing criminal investigation. He also addressed allegations regarding the awarding of contracts to PR agencies that participated in previous administration campaigns, stating that while he cannot target specific legal entities, data shows certain agencies received direct orders.

Additionally, the council will address a case involving alleged irregularities in municipal business dealings. Independent council member Daniel Radeta has also proposed a demand for full documentation regarding waste management at the Diklo landfill. Radeta is seeking detailed reports from 2021 onwards, including information on who transported waste, the quantities involved, the legal basis for these operations, and the total revenue generated by Čistoća.
