Split court sentences three men for stealing Hajduk captain Marko Livaja's bicycle
Three young men from Novi Sad have been sentenced to one-year suspended prison terms with a three-year probation period following a series of thefts in Split, Croatia. The defendants, Oliver Ekmešić (21), Dejan Živković (20), and Dejan Moldovan (26), pleaded guilty to eight thefts committed between August 13 and August 21.
Among the stolen items was an electric Greyp bicycle belonging to Hajduk Split captain Marko Livaja, valued at approximately 8,000 euros. The defendants claimed they did not intend to permanently steal the items, but rather took them to ride along the coast. They also noted they were staying on beaches due to a lack of accommodation.
During the proceedings at the Split Municipal Court, the men expressed remorse. One defendant, Živković, stated he only realized the bicycle belonged to the prominent footballer while in detention and has since sent a letter of apology to Livaja.
