Split-Dalmatia County celebrates with first Croatian translation of Saint Jerome’s ‘Famous Men’
The presentation of the first Croatian translation of Saint Jerome’s work, ‘Famous Men’, has marked the beginning of the week celebrating the Day of Split-Dalmatia County and its patron saint.
Translated by scientist Bernard Dukić, the project involved several years of work, including extensive research and annotations to provide historical context for modern readers. The work features a depiction of 135 notable figures, beginning with Saint Peter.
During the presentation at the Split-Dalmatia County offices, County Prefect Blaženko Boban described the book as a valuable scientific work that brings the life and work of Saint Jerome closer to Croatian readers. Dr. sc. Joško Belamarić also noted the saint's significant role as a protector and model in Dalmatian cultural and spiritual traditions.
