Split hosts premiere of historical film 'The Last Roman God

The historical epic 'The Last Roman God', directed by Božidar Domagoj Burić, held its Split premiere at CineStar in the Mall of Split on Wednesday, October 28. Following a previous premiere in Zagreb, the event drew numerous figures from the political, cultural, and social spheres, including Split Mayor Tomislav Šuta and Split-Dalmatia County Prefect Blaženko Boban.

Produced by Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT), the film depicts the rise of Roman Emperor Diocletian from a young officer in Salona to one of the most powerful rulers of the Roman Empire. The narrative covers his political and military ascent as well as the later period of his reign, marked by the persecution of Christians. A notable feature of the production is that the dialogue is performed in Latin.

The film was shot over three years at various locations in Split, a city deeply connected to the emperor through his palace. The cast includes Amar Bukvić as Diocletian, Nataša Janjić Medančić as Prisca, Slavko Sobin as Maximian, Marko Cindrić, Krešimir Mikić, and Dragan Despot.
