Split opens new public garage in Ravne njive

A new public garage with over 500 parking spaces has officially opened in the Ravne njive district of Split. Mayor Tomislav Šuta announced that parking will initially be free during a trial period lasting up to 30 days. The facility will eventually follow standard city garage rules, including options for residential subscriptions.

The opening has drawn political criticism from former deputy mayor Bojan Ivošević. Ivošević released footage from a December 2023 City Council session to argue that the project's realization was delayed for years due to unresolved land claims. He highlighted past warnings from Šuta, who, as a councilman, had previously argued that the city's direct involvement in the investment would cost taxpayers at least 10 million euros in VAT expenses.
